Washington Monument viewed through the blossoms of a Old Yoshino Cherry. Visitors flock to Washington DC to photograph the Cherry blossoms at peak bloom. The Cherry trees were a gift from the Mayor of Tokyo. The first trees were planted March 27, 1912 along the Potomac River’s Tidal Basin in Washington DC. The rest of the more than 3000 trees were planted in East Potomac Park and on the White House grounds.
