Light Pillars and Constellation Cassiopeia January 28, 2014 over West Virginia; Light Pillars result from a rare meteorological phenomena that takes place when the humidity is very high, the temperature very low, and there is no wind. Ice crystals floating in the air collect and focus the light from artificial sources creating the light pillars.
